The Bible On Marriage
Whenever the Bible mentions marriage, it is between a male and a female. The first mention of marriage, Genesis 2:24, describes it as a man leaving his parents and being united to his wife. In passages that contain instructions regarding marriage, such as 1 Corinthians 7:2-16 and Ephesians 5:23-33, the Bible clearly identifies marriage as being between a man and a woman.
The institution of marriage was created by GOD to unify a man and woman before GOD so that a man and woman could confirm their covenant of a lifelong commitment to each other. A woman helps complete the man and the man helps complete the woman. No place in the Bible has it ever said that marriage between persons of the same sex is accepted by GOD.
The Bible On Homosexuality
In truth, the Bible condemns homosexuality as an immoral and unnatural sin. Leviticus 18:22 identifies homosexual sex as an abomination, a detestable sin. Romans 1:26-27 declares homosexual desires and actions to be shameful, unnatural, lustful, and indecent. 1 Corinthians 6:9 states that homosexuals are unrighteous and will not inherit the kingdom of God. Since both homosexual desires and actions are condemned in the Bible, it is clear that homosexuals “marrying” is not God’s will, and would be, in fact, sinful.
As Christians, we are duty-bound to speak up and support GOD’s principles. In fact, as Christians we are not only required to stand up for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but promote it. To take a stand against homosexuality is not discrimination but an affirmation of God and how he wants us to live our lives for we must be “strong and courageous.” The Bible unequivocally states that homosexuality is an abomination. There is no gray area or middle ground.
 Matthew 19:4-6. Genesis 2:18, 24; I Corinthians 11:11. Mark 8:38; Romans 12:2; James 4:4 Ephesians 5:11; Matthew 10:33. Deuteronomy 31:6; 1 Timothy 1:8-11. Leviticus 18:22.
Therefore, Christians should stand firmly against the idea of gay/same-sex marriage. Gay/same-sex marriage is a perversion of the institution of marriage and an offense to the God who created marriage. As Christians, we are not to condone or ignore sin. Rather, we are to share the love of God and the forgiveness of sins that is available to all, including homosexuals, through Jesus Christ.
“To strengthen families, we must stop glamorizing promiscuity and infidelity and restore among our people a sense of the profound beauty, mystery and holiness of faithful marital love. We must reform ill-advised policies that contribute to the weakening of the institution of marriage, including the discredited idea of unilateral divorce. We must work in the legal, cultural, and religious domains to instill in young people a sound understanding of what marriage is, what it requires, and why it is worth the commitment and sacrifices that faithful spouses make.” ~ The Manhattan Declaration
